BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County coroner has identified 26-year-old Joseph Melendez as the victim in a deadly stabbing that took place on Cinco de Mayo.

Officials say, on May 5 around 1:01 am, Melendez was stabbed to death by another person at the 1600 Block of West Drive in East Bakersfield.

According to KCSO, Melendez died at the scene.

A postmortem examination was conducted and found that the cause of death was a stab wound and the manner was homicide.
