Many in Kern county are mourning the loss of Bakersfield music pioneer - Red Simpson.
The world may know Simpson as a country singer but to the people of Kern county he was much more - a living icon, who helped serve as an architect to the Bakersfield sound.
Simpson suffered a heart attack in December after performing on stage in the Pacific Northwest. He was rushed to a Bakersfield hospital where he was pounced dead. Tonight his son - David Simpson and several others pay tribute to a man who left countless imprints on many hearts.
"I loved my dad and I know everybody loved him too," Simpson said.
