Kern County is top in state in arson, second in motor theft and rape

New statistics released from the FBI paint Kern County in a dark light. 

The numbers come from incidents reported by sheriff's departments or county police departments in 2015.

Kern County was number one in the state in arson, with 300 crimes reported. Los Angeles County was second with 215. 

Kern County also ranked high in multiple violent crime categories.

The county ranked second in the state in rapes with 157. Los Angeles County was first with 304.

Kern also ranked third in murder and non-negligent manslaughter with 31 and aggravated assault with 1,687. 

The county ranked in the top three in property crimes as well, with 9,903 crimes reported for 2015.

Kern County ranked second in motor vehicle theft, with 1,883 crimes reported, and third in burglary with 3,243.
