23ABC News has obtained the court docs containing the preliminary investigation that lead to the arrest of a Beardsley Junior High School teacher for unlawful sex with a minor.
KCSO officials said on December 15th, their detectives with the Sexual Assault and Abuse Investigations Unit (SAAIU) began an investigation into a report that a teacher at Beardsley Junior High School had been involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former student.

During the investigation, KCSO detectives were able to identify three former male student victims.
As a result of the investigation, KCSO deputies arrested 34-year-old Vanessa Jean Hooker Friday for contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense, attempted lewd/lascivious acts with a child 14/15 years of age, oral copulation with a person under 18 years of age, sexual penetration with a foreign object with a person under 18 years of age, and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense.
Hooker was booked into the Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility. Her bail has been set at $297,500. And she has since bonded out.
The Beardsley School District released a statement on December 23, almost a week after one a teacher of their junior high school was arrested on sex charges with minors.

On December 22, 2015 we were notified through the Kern County District Attorney’s Office that the teacher at our junior high school, who was previously arrested due to allegations of engaging in inappropriate contact with three former male students, has now been formally charged. As such, this teacher has now been placed on involuntary unpaid leave. The District has started the process of finding a qualified replacement.
Since this a personnel matter, I am still unable to share any additional details with you at this time. However, I want to ensure our students and parents that the safety of our students is of the utmost importance. As such, we are continuing to fully cooperate with law enforcement as they move forward with this issue.
Hooker appeared in court on December 23, 2015 where she pleaded not guilty to all charges.
