BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Crews from the Bakersfield Fire Department quickly knocked down a house fire in east Bakersfield early Wednesday afternoon. The fire was in a residence near Oregon and Niles streets.
According to Casey Snow, Public Information Officer for the Bakersfield Fire Department, three engines and two trucks responded to the call at around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, crews discovered that a fire that began in an open field behind the home before spreading to the structure. Fire crews used multiple lines to put out the fire.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but there was damage to lots and fencing of adjacent properties.
Snow said that the cause of the fire was unknown at this time, but arson units were on the scene.
