UPDATE: The Kern County Fire Department says the grass fire was contained just before 4:00 a.m. this morning. The fire did not threaten any homes and no injuries were reported.
Fire crews are battling a grass fire at the intersection of Highway 65 and Sherwood Avenue in McFarland.
According to the Kern County Fire Department, the fire has burned about 50 acres and 30 firefighters are currently on scene.
No word if the fire has threatened any homes.
