A fire that started outside of an Oildale home spread inside through an open window, according to the Kern County Fire Department.

According to KCFD, around 11:30 a.m. on June 1, crews received multiple calls of a home on fire in the 400 block of Crystal Court. When crews arrived, they saw flames and smoke coming from the home.

Two adults and two children made it out of the home. KCFD says multiple animals were still inside of the house. KCFD says they were able to locate and rescue six cats and two dogs. KCFD says one cat is unaccounted for.

KCFD and City of Bakersfield Fire Department crews were able to knock down the fire quickly.

According to KCFD, the fire started outside and traveled inside through an open window. KCFD says they are investigating the cause.

KCFD says the family has been displaced. The Red Cross will assist the family.
