BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Cirguía Sin Fronteras nonprofit foundation is working with other local nonprofits to host a drive-thru food distribution event for families directly impacted by COVID-19.

The food distribution event starts on June 29 at 10 a.m. at Cirugia Sin Fronteras, 3811 Mount Vernon Ave.

Their goal is to reach 1,200 families over this three-day event.

Emergency assistance requests, at CSF Foundation, have increased dramatically due to the economic impact of the pandemic.

Over 80% of the families reaching out are living in severe poverty and are struggling to provide for the basic necessities and meals for their households.
