As graduation season is upon us, California State University Bakersfield undergraduate and graduate students will be crossing the stage and getting their degrees Thursday night and Friday morning.

The graduate and hooding ceremony is set for May 17 at 6 p.m. inside the Icardo Center.

More than 300 students have registered to participate and no tickets are required.

The undergraduate commencement ceremony is set for Friday at 8 a.m. on the main soccer field.

Gates will be open to the public starting at 5:30 a.m. Guests with priority tickets must be inside by 7:15 a.m. Tickets are necessary to get into the venue.

Bakersfield Police want to remind drivers to take extra caution when driving near CSUB, since there's expected to be higher traffic volumes and significant delays starting from 5 a.m. to noon on Friday.

Intersections in the area that will be affected are Stockdale Highway and Don Hart East, Stockdale Highway and Don Hart West, and Gosford Road and Kroll Way.

Overflow parking will be available in the north parking lot of the Edwards Cinema. If overflow parking is needed, drivers should anticipate that Camino Media might be closed between Haggin Oaks and Scartlet Oaks Boulevards that day.

Bags will be checked before guests will be allowed into the venue. Prohibited items at graduation include umbrellas, air horns, signs, balloons, beach balls, outside food, tripods, alcohol, bottles, cans, fireworks, firearms and weapons and tobacco products.
