The California State University Jazz Festival has been canceled for 2019.

Matt Munoz, who fronts the band Mento Buru, posted this message about the cancellation on his Facebook page:

The cancellation of the Bakersfield Jazz Festival was brought on by a weeklong community-centered events leading up to the Investiture of the University’s President. A spokesperson for CSUB said:
this year, the President’s Investiture reception will celebrate the Taste of Bakersfield. The weeklong series of Investiture events will take the place of the Bakersfield Jazz Festival and will bring a new focus and showcase our community’s unique and amazing flavors.
