The big men's basketball game over the weekend between California State University, Bakersfield and New Mexico State was still the talk of campus on Monday.
Students said they were excited to see CSUB make national news following the buzzer beater by Dedrick Basil in the last seconds of Saturday's game.
"To see them on the big screen it was like, wow, that's my school! So it was crazy," said Madison Pilney.
Some of the students who followed the team through the regular season said they were happy to see the team's hard work pay off and setting up the Runners to play against some of the nation's top schools.
"We've been to some of the games here and we obviously know what they can do and I was just very proud of them just to know that they've made it that far," said Jose Acosta.
At the campus bookstore today, some students were searching for CSUB apparel to represent the team. The bookstore said since Saturday, online sales have jumped 35 to 40 percent.
The ticket office said the phone has been ringing off the hook with people trying to secure tickets to the game.
"A lot of people didn't expect us to be here so we just have to keep rooting them on," said Francisco Castro.
Students said they're excited to see what the team does with this opportunity.
"I don't follow basketball much, but I hope that they go as far as they can and bring home that title whatever it is and do well," said Madison Pilney.
Students said they look forward to hanging out with friends and watching as CSUB takes on the University of Oaklahoma Friday March 18th at 1:00pm PT.
