BAKERSFIELD, CA. — CSUB is participating in Commute Kern's pledge for Rideshare Week 2019.

The university is testing out a pilot program that will allow students to carpool to campus.

“Parking is a premium here on campus and the more cars we can get off the road the better not only for traffic but also for air pollution since its a huge problem in Bakersfield and any amount we can cut down is significant and important," said Amanda Saxby, CSUB student.

The sustainability department is looking for commuting alternatives for students on campus.

“A lot of students are looking for alternative forms of transportation, whether its better bus systems or carpools and vanpools or Uber and Lyft," said Jennifer Sanchez, CSUB Sustainability Department. "So if the university is able to provide more options for them its something that's gonna benefit our students and their needs and also reduce the impact on the planet."
