In the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic, there's been a growing need for more personal protective equipment, especially for front line workers in the medical industry.
On Tuesday, the Kern County Board of Supervisors will approve a donation that will provide the Public Health Department with about 2,400 masks.
The masks come from California State University Bakersfield's School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering Fab Lab. The masks were created with a 3D head band and a laser cut plastic shield that protects the face.
In a letter to the county, CSUB president Lynnette Zelezny said, "The University appreciates the Kern County Emergency Medical Services' mission and hopes these Supplies will be useful to the organization."
