A Cuban airlines with 104 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff from Havana's José Martí International Airport.

Officials say the Boeing 737 plane took off plummeted into a yuca field shortly after take off. No report of how many casualties have been released as of Friday morning.

Officials say the plane was scheduled to fly from Cuba's capital to the eastern city of Holguin when it crashed near the end of the runway on the southern outskirts of Havana.

Friday's crash was Cuba's third major fatal accident since 2010.
