BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A local inspiration is being honored with a foundation in his name. The David Marcus Thumbs Up Scholarship Foundation will be holding its inaugural fundraiser today, November 9th.
Marcus passed away in June after a long battle with cancer. It was his seventh diagnosis with the disease.
The fundraiser will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m at Resurrection Church located at 48 Manor Street. It's $30 per person and includes game cards, markers, and a delicious Filipino meal. There will also be raffle prizes and a 50-50 drawing.
All the funds raised will go toward scholarships for local high school students.
