BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Tuesday, the Kern County Board of Supervisors named the next fire chief of the Kern County Fire Department.
The board voted to appoint Interim Chief David Witt to Fire Chief after he was unanimously voted into the interim position in January.
Witt was surprised and happy with the nomination and says his focus is safety and budgeting.
Former Fire Chief Brian Marshall left the department in February to start a new position with the governor's office.
