BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Two people are dead following a multiple-vehicle crash on the I-5 just south of Kings County and the Kern County line Sunday just before 5 p.m.
CHP officers responded to the crash, involving four vehicles. Officers said a Lincoln was going northbound on the I-5, when for unknown reasons, it went into the center median and spun out into southbound lanes.
According to CHP, the Lincoln collided with a big rig, then hit another, before crashing head-on with a Ford Mustang.
CHP said the two people in the Lincoln died at the scene, and two people from the Ford were transported to a hospital with moderate to major injuries.
No one from the two big rigs were injured.
Southbound lanes were shutdown for about three hours, but lanes are back open.
