Victim of deadly Highway 46 crash identified

UPDATE (3/22): The KCSO Coroner's Office has identified 20-year-old Alexei Scissons as the victim of Sunday's crash on Highway 46 just west of I-5.

Scissons was a resident of Hanford.

Sergeant Basil Zuniga of the California Highway Patrol said around 6 a.m. on Sunday, CHP received a call for a two-vehicle crash on Highway 46 just west of I-5. 

When officials arrived they found a white Chevrolet pickup truck and a Black Chevrolet Malibu invovled in the crash.

The initial investigation revealed that the black car was traveling eastbound on Highway 46 drifted across the median into the westbound lanes and hit the pickup truck head on. 

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. 

The black car had three people inside. The driver, Scissons, died at the scene. The two passengers were taken to Kern Medical.

Officials said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left at least one person dead. 

It happened just after 6 a.m. on Highway 46 near Interstate 5 in the Lost Hills area. 

According to the CHP dispatch website, the westbound lanes of Highway 46 are blocked by the crash. 

Traffic is moving slowly along the right hand shoulder.
