UPDATE: 12-year-old killed in motorcycle crash died of blunt force trauma, ruled an accident

(UPDATE 10/28) The Kern County Coroner said that Cross's death was due to blunt force trauma. His death was ruled an accident.


(UPDATE 12:50 PM) The Kern County Coroner's Office identified Bruce Leon Cross as the 12-year-old boy killed in a motorcycle crash near Hillcrest Memorial Park.

According to the coroner, Cross was the passenger of the motorcycle that left the roadway and crashed into a field. He died at the scene.


One child is dead after a deadly motorcycle collision near Hillcrest Memorial Park.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded a single injury collision involving two people at 6:42 p.m.

A 12-year-old child was the passenger on the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult male, who was the driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. He is currently listed in stable condition.

According to initial investigation excessive speed is a contributing factor. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The investigation is still ongoing.
