BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Delano chief of police, Robert Nevarez released this statement Saturday afternoon.

"Consistent with SB54, the California Values Act, the Delano Police will not be utilizing their resources on behalf of federal immigration officials and will not be working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement."

"De acuerdo con SB54, la Policía de Delano no utilizará sus recursos a favor de funcionarios y NO estaran trabajando con agentes de inmigracion."

The chief's statement comes after the Trump administration's call for large scale efforts to deport illegal aliens across the country. The President says ICE operations are scheduled to begin on Sunday.
