DELANO, Calif. — A traffic stop in Delano led to an arrest of a deported sex offender.
On Thursday, the Delano Police Department Special Enforcement Unit stopped Humberto Uribe Cuevas who initially gave officials a false identity.
Police then investigated and found that Cuevas was a deported sex offender as of March 2011.
Delano Police Department Investigations Division Detectives took over the investigation. During their investigation, detectives discovered Cuevas had also been living within the City of Delano since 2015 and was out of compliance with his sex registration requirements.
Cuevas was taken into custody and charged with several violations related to his his sex registration requirements and a violation of false identification to a peace officer. He was booked into the Kern County Jail.
