Delano Police to swear in new Police Chief

Robert Nevarez to be sworn in Monday July 9th

Delano Police will formally introducer their new Chief of Police on Monday July 9th. During a department ceremony, Robert Nevarez will be sworn in as the next Chief of Delano Police.

The swearing in ceremony will take place Monday at 9 a.m. at the Jefferson Center at 436 Jefferson Street. The ceremony will include Delano City Clerk, Ricardo Chavez, giving the oath of office, Mayor Grace Vallejo delivering an address and Celia Nevarez pinning the new chief.

Nevarez has been in law enforcement for more than three decades. During his 32 years inside the Fresno Police Department, Nevarez rose through the ranks to Deputy Chief, a title he held for the last 15 years. Nevarez was also a patrol officer, narcotics detective, SWAT team member, field commander and assistant district commander in Southeast Fresno.
