According to Delano officials, some residents noticed a brown-yellowish color running out of their pipes Sunday morning.
Many people immediately contacted the city and by afternoon the water department had identified the issue.
Officials say a dirty filter was the cause of murky water running through the faucets in some homes.
The source of the water discoloration was found in a water well located in Northeast Delano.
Both elementary and high school district's in Delano opened two hours later today in order to flush out their water faucets.
Delano Union Elementary School District said they did see a little discoloration in their water but the water was clear after 8 A.M.
Delano Elementary School District applauded the city of Delano for taking such quick action with the water issue and for communicating openly with the public.
For now the city will continue to flush out lines and the state water board has investigated the problem and says no further action needs to be taken at this time.
