UPDATE: We're continuing to follow a deadly officer-involved shooting overnight near the Tejon outlets. The sheriff's department is investigating the shooting by a California Highway Patrol officer. We have limited details at this hour, but the sheriff's office told 23ABC that a CHP officer shot and killed a person near the Tejon Outlets Sunday night around 9 p.m. The only comment from investigators is that the person shot was a "suspect." There are no other details available right now. The northbound on-ramp to I-5 at Laval Road was closed during the investigation.

According to Kern County Sheriff officials, earlier tonight the California Highway Patrol was involved in an officer-involved shooting leaving one person dead near the Ft. Tejon Outlets.

KCSO says the person killed was considered a suspect, although did not provide details.

As of now the northbound on-ramp is closed at Laval Road.

A tweet from CHP Bakersfield is warning drivers of delays on the I-5 northbound lanes.

We have a crew on scene. Tune into our 11 p.m. show for details.

This is a developing story.
