California deputy was shot and killed during a shoot-out.

Robert French was assisting CHP after a car chase in Sacramento.

Officers arrived a motel to serve a warrant to the suspect. This is when the man shot through the motel door at the CHP officers.

He then turned on French and shot him as well. French died on his way to the hospital.

The CHP officers suffered injuries but are expected to recover.

The suspect is in custody and is being questioned by investigators.
