According to the Oakland Raiders, Quarterback Derek Carr is nominated for the 2017 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. 

This marks the second year that Carr is nominated for the award by the public relations/media department of the Oakland Raiders team. 

The winner of the award is determined by current NFL players. Of the 32 nominated players, eight will be selected as finalists by a panel of former NFL players. That panel consists of Warrick Dunn, Curtis Martin, Karl Meckleburg, and Leonard Wheeler. 

The award is given to a player who demonstrates the most on-field sportsmanship, including playing fair, showing integrity, and having respect for the game as well as opponents.
