Fractured ribs, a brain bleed, hemorrhaging from the eyes and a broken femur and tibia to a four-week-old child has detectives investigating a suspected case of child abuse.

According to a search warrant, on Wednesday, September 26, Detectives with Bakersfield police were called to Memorial Hospital for a report of suspected child abuse. A nurse told detectives that a four-week-old was suffering from a broken femur and tibia. The infant was taken to Valley Children's in Madera.

Documents show that while at Valley Children's, there were more injuries found to the infant including fractured ribs, a brain bleed and hemorrhaging of the eyes. Hospital staff said that the injuries were consistent with that of non-accidental trauma.

According to documents, neither of the parents were able to explain where the injuries occurred. The search warrant was issued because police want to search an IPhone that was found at the child's home.
