DiamondIT will be holding a blood drive to benefit the Houchin Community Blood Bank.
The event is taking place at DiamondIT at 8701 Swigert Court. The blood drive will be the day before Thanksgiving, on Wednesday, November 23 from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Houchin Community Blood Bank serves all the Kern County hospitals and medical facilities. The need for blood locally remains constant, and donations are wanted to help with numerous medical purposes.
DiamondIT will distribute prizes and hold a raffle for a gift basket from the Bakersfield Condors as well as a Target gift card. In addition, all donors will be able to indulge in pastries and beverages.
What to know before donating blood:
- Photo ID is required at donation time
- Participants must be at least 16 or 17 years of age and above (minors must have parents fill out a consent form)
- Donors are encouraged to eat a meal and drink plenty of water at least three hours before donating
- Donors should be free of any virus or infection
