Since 1995, Taft College's Transition to Independent Living Program has been helping young adults with intellectual disabilities make it on their own.

“They are slower learners than the average person that we encounter," said Aaron Markovits, Taft College TIL Director. "Typically it's people that were born with a disabling condition and they are not able to care for themselves.”

The two-year program's curriculum includes classes that teach social skills, personal finances, health wellness, personal advocacy and cooking.
