Discovery Kafe, located on Discovery Drive, has been closed by Kern County Public Health after officials said they found rodent droppings and urine in the facility.

Health officials said during an inspection on Monday they observed holes in the wall behind the refrigerator near a drink prep station. The fridge also was not set at the appropriate temperatures for meat and dairy, according to officials.

The report also stated that the operator of Discovery Kafe did not show "good decision making skills" and "failed to recognize the health risks of rodent droppings and urine." Health officials said they also closed down the cafe due to an active vermin infestation.

Overall the business received an inspection score of 64 and will remain closed until all vermin infestation are abated, the report stated.
