The public will have the opportunity to dispose of prescription drugs this weekend for Drug Take Back Day.

The Bakersfield and Tehachapi Police Departments are holding Drug Take Back Day events on Saturday, April 28 to allow the community to dispose of potentially dangerous, expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs.

Disposing of drugs is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Liquids, needles or sharps are not accepted.

Drug Take Back Day is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are three drop off locations:

  • Bakersfield Police Department front lobby, 1601 Truxtun Avenue
  • Kaiser Permanente Stockdale Medical Offices, 3501 Stockdale Highway
  • Tehachapi Police Department, 220 W. C Street

Last year, nearly a million pounds of prescription drugs were turned in for nationwide drug take back events.
