KERN CO., California — A man told Kern County Sheriff's deputies that someone chased him and fired a gun near Sandy Flat campground over the weekend.
According to court documents obtained by 23ABC News, the victim told investigators he was chased 400 yards back to his campsite by four people after he argued with them.
The man told deputies that during the chase, one of the pursuers fired a black handgun four times, then the quartet retreated back to their campground.
In the documents, deputies say they were told by other nearby campers that they also heard multiple gunshots.
Deputies then met with and spoke to the four people accused of chasing the victim. The investigators say they did not find any firearms at the campsite, but did see several machetes and knives near the subjects' vehicles. The alleged victim also identified to deputies the man he's accusing of firing the gun.
According to the documents, deputies got a search warrant to look in the vechiles of the accused, but did not find any firearms or any related evidence and nothing was seized.
No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.
