Bakersfield City Fire crews were called to a fire in Southwest Bakersfield Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m.

According to Bakersfield Fire officials, crews responded to reports that a water heater caused a fire at a doublewide home in the area of Bellflower Court and Springdale Drive.

No one was inside the home at the time, but crews were told that four cats were inside. 

Crews were able to find one cat and used oxygen tanks and masks donated by the Girl Scouts to help treat it. 

Three cats were killed in the fire, but no one else was hurt.
