BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Downtown Business Association hosted their annual "State of the Downtown" breakfast this morning to discuss the area's issues with crime and projects to combat it.
Today at the Breakfast, the DBA and Downtown Business Development Corporation announced they are looking for block captains for their project.
"Block by Block" will be a type of community watch comprised of downtown businesses that will report issues at forums and tackle issues together.
The program will begin on March 1.
Bakersfield CIty Councilman Andrae Gonzales says that the program will hopefully curb crime and other business owners concerns about safety.
