Friday evening, Downtown Bakersfield stores will open their doors for crowds attending May's First Friday event.
On the first Friday of each month, the Arts Council of Kern celebrates art in the the downtown Bakersfield Arts District. Galleries, shops and boutiques will open to draw more people downtown and to the arts.
Over 50 artists in the First Friday ArtWalk are expected to be open Friday night. The monthly event will include vendors, live music on the streets and in other various venues.
The event will start at the intersection of Eye Street and 19th Street and will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Roads that are expected to be closed downtown include, Eye Street, 19th Street and 18th Street.
