UPDATE: The man arrested for driving under the influence leading to a rollover has been identified as Chad McKibbin, 20.

He was driving a 2006 GMC on Knudsen Drive north of Olive at a fast speed when he crashed into a concrete curb, according to CHP.

Due to his intoxication, McKibbin drifted into the curb and the GMC overturned and hit a gas meter, said CHP. 

Both McKibbin and the passenger, 21-year-old Lane Sanders, sustained injuries and were taken to Kern Medical.

Sanders is being treated for cuts and pain to his back and shoulder.

McKibbin was arrested and booked into Kern County Jail.

The roadway is now open in the area after the gas company fixed the broken gas meter.

The crash occurred around 2:30 Tuesday morning in Northwest Bakersfield.
