The driver in a deadly head on collision on South Union Avenue has been identified.

The Kern County Coroner's Office reported that 44-year-old Carla Latrice Strother was heading down South Union Ave., about one mile south of State Route 223, when she struck another vehicle head on.

Strother died at the scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol Friday, the other vehicle was driving the wrong way down the road.

The other driver was also killed and a passenger in the truck was hospitalized with major injuries.
