A drunk driver was arrested on Wednesday after crashing into the passenger door of a Fresno County Sheriff's deputy's vehicle.
Shortly after 6 p.m., a deputy was responding to a call in Fresno when he noticed a green Ford Ranger pickup truck make an illegal U-turn on Olive Avenue near Highway 99.
The deputy was in the left lane and eventually pulled up next to the driver of the truck, who stopped for a red light. When the light turned green, the driver made another illegal U-turn from the far right lane.
The deputy tried to swerve out of the way but couldn't avoid getting hit. The driver tried to flee but the deputy caught up to him and got him to pull over.
A woman got out of the passenger seat and tried to walk away. The deputy stopped her from leaving and noticed the driver, 57-year-old Vannoy Fresno was showing signs of being intoxicated.
The deputy called CHP to the scene, which found Vannoy to have a blood alcohol content of 0.14. He was arrested and booked into Fresno County Jail on misdemeanor charges of DUI of alcohol and hit and run damages.
No one was hurt and the vehicles suffered minor damage.
