Kern County Fire Department received a call at about 4:40 a.m. Friday regarding a house fire in the 1900 block of Potomac Ave. in east Bakersfield.

Due to smoke and flames being seen by incoming engines, while in route to the fire, a reinforced structure response was started. 

Crews found a home fully involved in fire. Due to the amount of fire and structural damage to the home, firefighters set up a defensive attack on the fire.

A primary search was conducting utilized a thermal imaging camera from a safe distance around the structure. A secondary search was later conducted and confirmed no occupants were in the structure at the time of the fire. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were no injuries to firefighters as a result of this fire.
