On July 26, 2016, at 3:46am, a vehicle was struck by a semi-tractor trailer on State Route 223 just east of Ashe Road in Bakersfield.
According to California Highway Patrol, the man driving the vehicle, 22-year-old Gonzalo Topete, died at the scene.
A postmortem evaluation will be done to determine cause and manner of death.
