BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — As high school football players at one local school prepare for the upcoming season some athletes took a moment to tackle some of the issues in Ridgecrest.

Garces High School student-athletes teamed up to help the family of one of their teammates and other victims. They held a water drive this weekend and the Bakersfield community responded.

"A lot of people have been texting me because we put it on social media and it's out there. A lot of people wanted to stop by and bring all the water that they can to help out the community."

On Monday, Advance Beverage Company donated 40 cases of water to the football team's water drive. Check out the video below of some of guys picking them up.

The students say they will deliver the collected cases of bottled water to the community this upcoming Wednesday.
