PETROLIA, Calif. — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit near the coast of Northern California, west of Petrolia, Saturday afternoon.

The earthquake was reported two miles from Petrolia, Calif at 2:22 p.m. at a depth of 5.0 miles according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
