Bakersfield travelers are feeling the effects of the epic East Coast blizzard that is canceling thousands of flights.
Meadows Field Airport says that they do not expect delays because of the blizzard, but car rental companies like Avis have already seen a large number of cancelations due to weather delays.
Jared Smith, a Bakersfield resident who is stuck in New York due to several canceled flights, says that the airlines have been helpful in redirecting travelers.
"They're offering free rescheduling, they're being really kind about it, they're being really nice about it," said Smith. "There's thousands of people being affected right now so, all things considered, they've been very nice".
The East Coast got several inches of snow today but there is more snow expected this weekend. Several states have already issued a state of emergency because of the severity of the storm.
