It is time to taste all that downtown has to offer!
The "Taste of Downtown" is happening Thursday, September 14 from 6-9 pm.The Downtown Business Association of Bakersfieldwants everyone to come enjoy great music, great food, and great company.
"We just want to get people downtown to support our local businesses and restaurants," said Cornelio Gutierrez-Lozano, Director of membership and events for DBA.
One restaurant, Mamba Roomba, wants to show locals places they didn't know existed.
"We need more business downtown. There are a lot of things that people don't know yet," Victor Casa, owner of Mamba Roomba.
The streets will be closed on Eye Street from 18th to 19th and Wall Street from Chester to H. The restaurants will line the streets offering samples for you to try. It is a free event, but you will have to buy a booklet of tickets to try the food. Each ticket is a dollar and the tastings can range anywhere from 1 to 10 tickets.
Jada Montemarano got the inside scoop of what to expect. Mi Peru will have friend rice, Muertos will offer steak fries, and Centro 18 will have pulled pork belly tacos. There will also be a martini competition!
