Approximately 25 new local community leaders were welcomed for their Honorary Base Commanders Program Tuesday at Edwards Air Force Base.
Tehachapi City Manager Greg Garrett received the honorary appointment in the ceremony, where the new members were paired with Air Force commanders.
Garrett will serve a two year term and is paired with Lt. Colonel Paul Calhoun who commands the 418th Flight Test Squadron.
Honorary Commanders will be invited to special events on the base for the purpose of enhancing their experience and giving them a better understanding of how the base operates.
