Facebook and Instagram users are dealing with some bad news this morning. Both social media sites are down.

Both social media sites starting moving slowly just before 5:30 a.m. and in some instances, users reported pages weren't loading at all.

The hashtag #FacebookDown was trending on Twitter. Users took to Twitter to express grief, frustration and amusement with the social media sites going down. 

Facebook, which owns Instagram, has not responded to the outage. 

The Sun, a news outlet in the United Kingdom, reported that there were outages in Europe, the U.K. and Asia, as well as the United States.
