43-year-old Michael Holcomb and 50-year-old Evens Bernard were arrested Wednesday in connection to wooden pallets being stolen from a local grape vineyard.

On Monday, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit conducted an investigation regarding wooden pallets being stolen from the vineyard.

A farmer reported over 1,000 wooden pallets had been stolen over the last month, in the area of Imperial Avenue and Quinn Road.  These thefts have cost the farmer several thousand dollars to replace them.

Rural Crime Detectives were alerted some more of the pallets had just been stolen Wednesday evening.

A Kern County Sheriff’s Office patrol K-9 deputy located a vehicle hauling the pallets near Norris Road and Pegasus Drive and arrested Holcomb, who was driving, and Bernard.

The pallets Holcomb and Bernard had in their possession had a value of $975.00.
