23ABC has confirmed with family members that 50-year-old Peggy Kandler was the woman killed in a fatal crash near Valley Plaza Mall Sunday afternoon.

According to a GoFundMe page setup by the family, Kandler was a wife and grandmother.

The page reads:

We lost a beautiful woman due to a horrible car crash. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, & aunt. We are asking for anything to help lay her to rest.

Bakersfield Police Department said investigators have not confirmed if illegal street racing was a factor or not in this incident, but have not ruled it out. That same day, another woman was killedin a crash that BPD said was caused by illegal street racing.

Officials say a 50-year-old woman has died after a two-car collision near Valley Plaza Mall Sunday afternoon.

The collision occurred shortly after 2 p.m. as the woman was attempting onto Hughes Lane from Holden Way, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

A 20-year-old male driver heading North on Hughes Lane struck the woman, a BPD spokesman said.

BPD hasn't determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision, but said speed doesn't appear to be a factor.

Authorities have limited side streets in the area, which will remain closed for the next hour or so.

BPD is asking the public to avoid this area and to expect delays.
