Melissa Christian has been identified as the 33-year-old-woman who was killed Saturday morning following a crash involving a black Nissan truck that veered off the roadway between Olive Drive and Roberts Lane in Oildale.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Nissan was traveling west on Olive Dr. when it veered off the road, over the raised concrete curb and onto the north dirt shoulder where it collided with a Golden Empire Transit bench. It then continued until it crashed into a streetlight at the intersection between Olive Dr. and Roberts Ln.

The 53-year-old driver of the Nissan had minor to moderate injuries, but the passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
