Monday, ceremonies were held at Union Cemetery and Hillcrest Memorial Park to honor those who dedicated their lives to our country. 

Lenora Alvarado and Teresa Hitchcock both shared stories of their fathers who sacrificed their lives in combat.

Alvarado's father died August 12, 1969 saving his comrades.

Hitchcock's father, Larry S. Pierce, died September 20, 1965 after throwing himself on a bomb to save his peers.

Both women spoke at the ceremonies, sharing what Memorial Day means to them.
